Unless you are just going to soak it all in, you should try to come up with a loose plan. If you’re looking to browse and buy coins, it’s good to know how much money you want to spend. Use the dealer guide in the show program to find the dealers in attendance. If there is a particular dealer you know is at the show, be sure to contact them beforehand to confirm the dates/times they will be present. For coin valuations, the PCGS Price Guide is a great resource to help you get started valuing your U.S. coins.
If you have hundreds of coins, you’ll probably need a table. If this is the case, contact us at 562-250-3300 or info@LongBeachExpo.com and we’ll discuss the best arrangement for you. What could be better than displaying your inventory and selling it to dealers and public attendees? Sure, you could walk from table to table, but if you have a lot of coins it may be difficult and rather cumbersome to successfully shop your inventory around.
Thursday and Friday are usually the two most active days. We have dealers coming from throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. If you have particular dealers and grading services you’d like to visit, we strongly suggest reaching out to them prior to the show to see which days they plan to be there.
Upon entering the showroom floor, look to the left hand side of the room. Our friendly staff is here to answer your questions, and help direct you about which dealers are buying the types of coins you have for sale, which coins dealers specialize in, where kids’ activities are being held, etc.
Absolutely! The Long Beach Expo is a great place to bring your coins. There are free appraisals offered by many dealers on our show floor who are actively buying coins. Our “Meet the Coin Expert” sessions can also provide clarity on the value of your coins. If you decide that you’d like to sell, you will see that some dealers have signs that say “Buying.” Why not get prices from a few of them so you can compare and get the best price?
At the Long Beach Expo, you can opt to get your coins graded by PCGS, the leading coin and banknote authentication and grading service. Having your coins graded will increase the likelihood that you will receive fair-market value for your coins. Visit the PCGS Booth to submit your U.S. coins, World coins, and banknotes for onsite grading and authentication! See the PCGS show page for submission guidelines and more information on PCGS attractions at the Long Beach Expo.
Please note *Collectors Club membership is required for all submissions. If you are not a member, join now.
Take advantage of show specials by getting your submissions back at the show! Please check with a PCGS Customer Service Representative to confirm the cutoff time.
Some dealers may insist on seeing the coin before they will quote you a price, but you can certainly try to identify the coin by year, denomination, mintmark, and grade, and shop the various dealer tables. PCGS.com/PriceGuide is a great resource to identify and find out the listed value of your U.S. coins.
First, it’s a good idea to know what coin(s) you are looking for and what you are willing to pay. For example, you may want to buy a Saint-Gaudens $20 gold piece, and you want to look at some in the $3,000 to $3,500 price range. You’ll find that some of the dealers either specialize in Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles or have good selections in their cases. Just talk to them, look at some coins, and discuss prices.
Early Bird tickets are available here and allow you to enter the show earlier than general admission throughout the show, including exclusive access on dealer set-up day. Skip the grading lines and get early access to answers from PCGS representatives.
